Achariaceae

noun Bot. Family of dicotyledonous plants that includes only 3 genera, Acharia, Ceratiosicyos and Guthriea, each one with only one species, and all of them native to South Africa. The first species is a shrub, the second one is acaulescent (stemless), and the last one is a climber.

Type genus: Acharia.

Etymology

From modern Latin Achariaceae; from Acharia, name of a plant genus; and the Latin suffix -aceae, «-aceous».
