noun Bot. Family of monocotyledonous plants within the order Arales, very akin to the Araceae. This family is constituted by only 2 species, grouped in one single genus. Some authorities include them within the Araceae.

Type genus: Acorus.

Etymology

From modern Latin Acoraceae; from Acorus, name of a plant genus; and the Latin suffix -aceae, «-aceous».
