Akaniaceae

noun Bot. Family of dicotyledonous plants, closely related to the Aceraceae, Hippocastanaceae, and Sapindaceae families. It has a single species, Akania lucens, a small tree of eastern Australia that some classify within the Sapindaceae.

Type genus: Akania

Etymology

From modern Latin Akaniaceae; from Akania, name of a plant genus, and the Latin suffix -aceae, «-aceous».
